The first matchup for Lake Norman against their new conference foe, North Meck, showed that they indeed have the talent to play in a tough 4A
“I thought we did really well, ” said Coach Poulin “We hung in there with them” The Wildcats were able to put on a tough showing against the reigning conference champs forcing North to come from behind in each match. “It’s nice to see what has been the cream of the crop in the conference,” added Poulin “and to know that we were able hang with them”
At times, North seemed to struggle to handle the Wildcats offense but rallied enough to leave with a win. “I knew it would be close,” said the Vikings Coach Skidmore “I knew it wasn’t going to be easy” Led by Senior Outside Hitter Ali Cooke who had 36 attacks and 12 kills in the outing, the lady netters won by scores of 25-23, 25-21 & 25-19.
Lake Norman(2-1,0-1) will travel to Mallard Creek on Thursday to take on the Mavericks who lost to Mooresville yesterday 0-3 while the Vikings (6-0, 1-0) will head to West Charlotte.
