Teamwork helps Partriots win 87-51 over Eagles

Huntersville, NC – With a two game winning streak in their pockets, The Southlake Eagles played host to a revitalized Davidson Day team that had only one win last season.  With that in mind, the Eagles took to the floor to keep the Patriots from doubling their win total from last year.

From the opening tip off, the Eagles looked poised to do just that.  Southlake kept Davidson Day at bay for the first two quarters, keeping a 14-12 lead after the first and a 36-34 lead going into half time.

“Coach said they were a pretty good team, ” said Patriots forward DaQuan Hayes after the game  ” and we came out with a lack of intensity in the first half”

Halftime provided the Patriots with time to do some soul searching or risk dropping to 1-2 on the season before facing a tough Northside team next week.

As the second half got underway, the Patriots played a much faster brand of basketball that the Eagles just couldn’t keep up with.

“As a team, we came together at halftime and decided to play as a team, ” added Hayes “and once we did that, we accomplished what we came out to do”

Led by Dorian Albriton, who ended the night with 19 points, Davidson Day put up 29 points in the 3rd quarter while holding Southlake to only 5 to take a 63-41 lead.

With four of the five Patriot starters on the bench in the fourth, the were able to put up 10 points in the 4th quarter but wouldn’t get any closer as Davidson Day pulled out the 87-51 victory.

The Patriots (2-1) host Northside Christian on Tuesday, December 8th while the Eagles (3-3) will take on visiting Hickory Grove.
